Anime does Cannes

At least five new anime movies are shopping around for buyers at the Cannes Film Festival this year. Here’s a quick rundown of the notables:
First there’s the 20th Century Boys film trilogy, the first of which is set to premiere on August 30. The sequels are schduled for lte 2008 and summer 2009.
Takashi Miike’s live-action remake of the 70’s anime Yatterman is scheduled for a spring ‘09 release.
And finally, there’s Dance! Subaru, based on an 11-volume manga comics series.
