The Japanese use Anime for everything. Really. To raise awareness about abductions of Japanese citizens by North Koreans, the Japanese government has commissioned the production and free release of a 25-minute anime short documentary set in 1977. The anime tells the story of Megumi Yokota, kidnapped at age 13 and taken to spend the rest of her short life in North Korea. Y ou can download several versions of the anime here.
