Harukana Machi E gets Eurpoean treatment

Harukana Machi E (”Distant Neighborhood”) by Jiro Taniguchi is one of the best manga I’ve read. A heartwarming meditation on childhood and growing up, with a kind of magical realism-time travel twist.
And now it’s been bought up by Belgin film outfit Entre Chien et Loup for adaptation into a live action film directed by acclaimed dirtector Sam Garbarski.
The manga’s setting will be transported from the Japanese countryside to 1968 Paris. Interesting. Shooting is scheduled to begin next year.
