The New York Anime Festival 2008 took place this past weekend. It was the second annual festival in NYC, and anime fans were largely excited to find out what will be coming up in 2009.
For starters, Huang Zin Jhou and Hiromu Arakawa will have Hero Tales out by October of 2009. Arakawa is the genius responsible for Full Metal Alchemist, while Huang Zin Jhou is really just a pen name used by Arakawa, Genco, and Studio Flag. The series is based on a variety of Chinese folk tales.
A novel written by Isuna Hasekura and illustrated by Ju Ayakura will be available in December of 2009. Spice and Wolf basically revolves around a harvest goddess, who apparently has the ears and tails of a wolf. Her village neglects her, causing her to take off with a traveling merchant in order to learn more about the outside world.
What else do anime fans have to look forward to next year? Keep checking back, we’ve got the scoop!
