Hayao Miyazaki’s first full-length feature film in four years, Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea, is still at the top of the cliff, so to speak, of Japanese cinema this past weekend, beating out Kunihiko Yuyama’s Pocket Monsters Diamond & Pearl: Giratina to Sora no Hanataba Shaymin, the 11th installment in the venerable (and apparently still quite dependable) Pokemon franchise.

Also in the box office top ten are two live-action manga adaptations, Boys Over Flowers Final (Hana Yori Dango Final) and Gegege no Kitar?: The Thousand-Year-Curse Song (Gegege no Kitar?: Sennen Noroi Uta), and one manga-based anime, Soreike! Anpanman: Y?sei Rinrin no Himitsu.
