American comics legend and reality-TV producer Stan Lee will be making an appearance at the 2008 New York Comic Convention on April 18 to talk about the upcoming ULTIMO – his groundbreaking collaboration with Shaman King mangaka  Hiroyuki Takei. I will be on pins and needles wating for news about this one. Until then true believers, Make Mine Manga!

Also in the news,  Anime pioneer Leiji Matsumoto is about to throw a fit (he’s certainly entitled to) over recently-announced plans for a live-action remake of his masterpiece anime series Captain Harlock. Turns out that Eight Peaks, the Korean company behind the film, overlooked the tiny little detail of asking the creator’s permission before going out and putting together their $100M project. Hmmm… maybe they thought he wouldn’t notice.
